William J. Cook
Assistant professor of law

William J. Cook joined the Charleston School of Law in 2006. He teaches property law, constitutional law, appellate practice and historic preservation law.

A former law clerk to Chief Judge Kaye G. Hearn of the South Carolina Court of Appeals, Cook served as a private practitioner before joining the law school faculty. His legal practice, which focused on complex civil litigation, included work at a nationally-recognized plaintiff's firm and in the general counsel's office of an international auction house in New York City.

Cook received his law degree from the University of South Carolina and graduated with honors from Furman University.

Cook, a member of the Preservation Society of Charleston's Board of Directors, taught legal writing before joining the faculty and serves as faculty advisor to the Charleston Law Review.
