MAY 11, 2006 -- Veteran Pinopolis businessman Walker Spann is
the new business manager at the Charleston School of Law, Provost
Ralph McCullough II announced today.
"Walker's business experience will serve the law school
well," McCullough said. "We're fortunate to be able
to have his expertise and leadership as our school moves forward
to welcome our third incoming class of students."
As business manager, Spann will supervise day-to-day operations
outside of the academic realm. For example, he will oversee issues
regarding law school's facilities, equipment, parking and security.
Spann, who served in the U.S. Army as an officer from 1972 to
1975, joined Pearlstine Distributors, Inc., in Charleston when
he was discharged and rose to become vice president of operations
by 1999. From 2000 until 2002, he was a customer service supervisor
for a company that processed passport applications in Charleston
for the U.S. Department of State. Since 2002, he has worked at
DynCorp International in Goose Creek, most recently as operations
manager.
Spann, a 1972 graduate of The Citadel, said he looked forward
to his position at the law school.
"This is an exciting move for me because the school will
offer a challenging career," he said. "I look forward
to working with the administration to facilitate the growth of
the school and to ensure students' experiences are as good as
they can be."
