
Zisk
named associate dean for academic affairs
JULY 31, 2006 - - Law professor Nancy Zisk has been named associate
dean for academic affairs at the Charleston School of Law, Dean
Richard Gershon announced today.
"Nancy Zisk has already been recognized for outstanding
teaching and her leadership of our faculty committees," Gershon
said. "It will be a pleasure to work with her as our new
associate dean for academics and the school will benefit from
her outstanding administrative skills."
As associate dean for academic affairs, Zisk will oversee academic
scheduling, hiring of adjunct and part-time professors, evaluation
of adjunct professors and new faculty orientation. She'll also
provide academic counseling to students and work with faculty
committees.
"The Charleston School of Law is a very exciting place,
and I have really enjoyed working with the faculty and students
during its first two years," Zisk said. "I am honored
to have the opportunity to work more closely with the faculty
and students. I look forward to meeting the new entering class
and working with the entire student body, faculty and members
of the community. It is going to be a very exciting year."
In April, Zisk was named "Professor of the Year" by
the students at Charleston School of Law.
Zisk joined the law school when it opened in 2004 to teach torts
as an assistant professor. A former adjunct professor at Washington
College of Law at American University in Washington, D.C., Zisk
earned her bachelor's degree and law degree from Duke University.
Formerly in private practice with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer &
Feld, and Ross, Dixon & Bell, both in Washington, D.C., she
specialized in employment and complex insurance coverage litigation.
She also served as a sole practitioner in Fairfax County, Virginia.
