Benfield

John S. Benfield
is the Charleston School of Law's associate dean for admissions,
administration and alumni. Prior to a 2004 promotion, he served
as Assistant Dean, Admissions and Financial Aid. From 1993 to
2003, Benfield served as the Assistant Dean of Admissions and
Financial Aid at the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Mr. Benfield, a 1978 graduate of Wofford College, holds a master's
degree in American History (1982) from the University of South
Carolina. At the Charleston School of Law, he is responsible for
the day-to-day operations of the Office of Admissions. More.

Borinsky

Marta Joy Borinsky
is the Charleston School of Law's assistant dean for career services.
Ms. Borinsky received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.She
obtained her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law
and her M.A. from the University of Virginia in Legal History.
Before joining the Charleston School of Law, she practiced law
in the areas of energy, trademark, and international boundary
dispute with LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae in Washington,
DC. Dean Borinsky serves on the Center for Heirs' Property Preservation
Advisory Committee and on the Habitat for Humanity Resource and
Development Committee. She also volunteers with the Charleston
County Bar Project.

Edwards

Abby
Edwards is associate dean of students and the assistant
director of the Externship program. She is a summa cum laude and
a First Honor graduate of the College of Charleston. She earned
her J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the North
Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation.
She served as a law clerk to the Honorable David C. Norton, U.S.
District Court for the District of South Carolina. Before joining
the law school, she was an associate with Nelson Mullins Riley
& Scarborough, LLP, and a partner with The McGougan Law Firm,
LLC. Previously, Dean Edwards served on the Crisis Ministries
Board and currently serves on the College of Charleston Alumni
Board as vice president. She also serves on the Center for Heirs'
Property Preservation Advisory Committee and on the Habitat for
Humanity Resource and Development Committee.
Wende C. Wood,
a certified public accountant, serves as the school's chief
financial officer. She has more than 20 years of experience in public
and private accounting in Washington, D.C., and Charleston. Wood,
a graduate of the University of Maryland, has had her own CPA practice
in Mount Pleasant since 1990.
Mike Parrish
is the Charleston School of Laws director of financial aid.
Before joining the School of Law in November 2006, he served as
the financial aid coordinator for the College of Medicine and the
College of Graduate Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Prior to MUSC, Parrish spent eight years at the Charleston campus
of Johnson & Wales University where he was the Director of Student
Financial Services from 2001 to 2005. Mr. Parrish, a graduate of
Winthrop University with a degree in financial management, oversees
the daily operations of the Office of Financial Aid. He brings more
than 10 years of experience in the financial aid industry to the
School of Law and is available to assist students and families with
questions regarding the financial aid process, securing loans to
pay for school and living expenses, setting up Veterans Benefits
for students, loan counseling and debt management.
