and experience, dean says
MAY 12, 2004 - - The Charleston School of Law has hired the director
of Sony Corporation of America's legal department to teach contract
law to students starting in August, Dean Richard Gershon announced
today.
"Allyson Haynes is a wonderful addition to the Charleston
School of Law faculty," Gershon said. "She brings outstanding
credentials and practice experience, particularly in the area
of Contract Law, which is what she will be teaching this coming
year."
Haynes, who will become an assistant professor of law at the new
school, has a law degree with top honors from the University of
South Carolina School of Law. She has a bachelor's degree from
Duke University.
At Sony, she provided litigation and corporate legal support
for the financial parent of the company's electronics and entertainment
businesses. In addition to managing outside legal teams, she was
responsible for overseeing litigation and privacy matters affecting
Sony Web sites and entertainment venues. Prior to joining Sony,
Haynes was an associate at one of New York's major firms, Cleary,
Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton where she specialized in general
corporate litigation and arbitration.
From 1995 to 1997, Haynes served as judicial clerk for U.S. District
Judge David C. Norton in Charleston.
