JAN. 16, 2005 -- Former U.S. Sen. Fritz Hollings and retired
state Judge Richard Fields will discuss diversity in the legal
profession Wednesday during the kickoff session of the Charleston
School of Law's Spring Professionalism Lecture Series.
"Students and lawyers from around the community are fortunate
to have these two seasoned veterans of the law to provide insights
about the profession," said Dean Richard Gershon.
The lecture, which will be held at noon on the Wednesday following
Martin Luther King Day, will be at the Charleston Museum auditorium
on Meeting Street.
Today the school also announced distinguished speakers for the
rest of the semester as part of the Professionalism Lecture Series.
Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Jan. 18, 2006, noon: Retired
U.S. Sen. Fritz Hollings and former state Judge Richard Fields,
Diversity in the Profession.
Feb. 1, 2006, 5 p.m.:
Attorney Shepherd Tate of Memphis, former president of the American
Bar Association, will discuss the ABA's role in the profession.
Feb. 15, 2006, noon:
A panel of S.C. circuit judges will discuss professionalism as
it relates to state courts.
March 1, 2006, 5 p.m.:
Attorney Timothy W. Bouch of Charleston, who chairs the S.C. Supreme
Court's Rules Commission, will discuss ethics and the legal profession.
March 22, 2006, noon:
U.S. District Judge David Norton will discuss professionalism
and the federal courts.
April 5, 2006, 5 p.m.:
Columbia attorney Zoe Sanders Nettles will discuss professionalism
and women in law.
All lectures will be held at the auditorium in the Charleston
Museum, 360 Meeting Street, Charleston.
