McCullough appointed to federal rules advisory position
Law school's provost to chair 4th Circuit Rules Advisory Committee

JAN. 18, 2005 -- Charleston School of Law Provost Ralph McCullough II has been appointed by the chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit to chair the court's Rules Advisory Committee.

McCullough, appointed by Chief Judge William W. Wilkins of Greenville, will serve as chair until Dec. 31, 2007.

"This is an enormous professional and personal honor," said McCullough, who also teaches at the law school. "It also reflects very positively on our new law school because it highlights how serious we are being taken across the region in the legal community.

"I look forward to serving as chair of this advisory rules committee on behalf of South Carolina's lawyers and the Charleston School of Law."

McCullough has been a member of the committee for several years. It is charged with reacting to proposed rules changes by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and to provide input on other matters as necessary.

Five states comprise the jurisdiction of the court: South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.
