JULY 31, 2006 - - Law professor Nancy Zisk has been named associate dean for academic affairs at the Charleston School of Law, Dean Richard Gershon announced today.

"Nancy Zisk has already been recognized for outstanding teaching and her leadership of our faculty committees," Gershon said. "It will be a pleasure to work with her as our new associate dean for academics and the school will benefit from her outstanding administrative skills."

As associate dean for academic affairs, Zisk will oversee academic scheduling, hiring of adjunct and part-time professors, evaluation of adjunct professors and new faculty orientation. She'll also provide academic counseling to students and work with faculty committees.

"The Charleston School of Law is a very exciting place, and I have really enjoyed working with the faculty and students during its first two years," Zisk said. "I am honored to have the opportunity to work more closely with the faculty and students. I look forward to meeting the new entering class and working with the entire student body, faculty and members of the community. It is going to be a very exciting year."

In April, Zisk was named "Professor of the Year" by the students at Charleston School of Law.

Zisk joined the law school when it opened in 2004 to teach torts as an assistant professor. A former adjunct professor at Washington College of Law at American University in Washington, D.C., Zisk earned her bachelor's degree and law degree from Duke University. Formerly in private practice with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, and Ross, Dixon & Bell, both in Washington, D.C., she specialized in employment and complex insurance coverage litigation. She also served as a sole practitioner in Fairfax County, Virginia.
